This free activities takes place every wednesday afternoon at 4:30 until 6:30. The Young People arrive to be briefed on what we're going to be making on the day; usually a choice of two meals and a desert. They're then split into two groups based on what they choose to make, and usually working in pairs work towards cooking their dinner!. Everyone would usually eat at 6pm together in the café before a quick debrief where everyone offers their ideas for what to make the following week.
Why they need our serviceFun with food offers young people the opportunity to learn to, or developing their existing cooking skills, before they go away to university, or move away from home in the future. Lots of young people nowadays are totally reliant on parents for responsibilities like food, and with our fun with food group, we offer a little insight, as well as a chance to taste healthy alternatives. The project also helps with tackling social exclusion, socialising and just offers a general fun place to go.
Plan and expected resultsThe expected result of this After-school club would be to reduce the general extent to which the Young People of Moray and in particularly the Elgin area, face social exclusion on many levels. After-school clubs such as this one offer increased opportunities to socialise, be a member of the community, develop skills for both personal growth and the future, and finally educational value.
