I am fundraising for Gig Buddies Cymru, to help them do more work in Merthyr Tydfil.
Gig Buddies is a befriending scheme that matches people with a learning disability and/or autism with a volunteer who shares the same interests, so they can go to gigs and events together.
Before the pandemic being a Gig Buddy volunteer involved befriending an adult with a learning disability and/or autism and attending events once a month. While very few events are taking place the need for friendship and social contact is even more important.
Gig Buddies are meeting online for virtual parties and digital events, and whenever it is safe to do so, meeting up outdoors. As soon as they are able to do so Gig Buddies will go back to attending gigs, events, and festivals together.
I am running and walking on my treadmill, and I am also walking my dog on the Taff Trail, near my house. I was aiming to get to 200 miles before March. I started on 2 January 2021, and I reached 240 miles before 25 February!
So I am raising my goal - I am now aiming to do 400 miles before the end of April 2021!!
