With support from Mehran Cheerah of Access to Business, older people in Wolverhampton are learning computer basics with a view to accessing the internet. This group in All Saints are one of many groups that meet each week to gain knowledge of computing. Sessions are delivered using the online tool kit Learn My Way, which enables users to design their own learning programme. This project aims to identify IT Champions who can share their knowledge with others after the programme ends.
Why they need our serviceBeing able to use the internet provides greater access to information and services. Many older people in particular have not had the opportunity to use a computer and realise the many benefits of being on line. This project will provide them with the knowledge and resources to use the internet and access the range of information, advice and services.
Plan and expected resultsBy the end of this project, it would be great to have supported over 60 older people in Wolverhampton to have had a taste of using a computer and knowing how to use the internet.
