Team Fundraisers
Well I started Couch to 5k & completed that in April 2021 and thought what should I do next! I literally came back from a awesome run with a good friend, and low and behold up pops a post from Gig Buddies Cymru looking for volunteers to fundraise by running the Cardiff Half Marathon. As I volunteer for this amazing charity (I have a awesome Gig Buddy) I feel it was meant to be so signed up there and then ! This is a crazy challenge for me, though hopefully I can raise some money for a worthy charity that has a real impact of people’s lives. On a lighter note please pray my body holds up.
A bit of info about Gig Buddies Cymru - it is a befriending scheme that matches people with a learning disability with a volunteer who shares the same interests, so they can go to gigs and events together.
Gig Buddies Cymru currently works in Anglesey, Bridgend, Cardiff, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Vale of Glamorgan, and
Wrexham.
In Wales Gig Buddies is run by Learning Disability Wales. Other Gig Buddies projects are running in England, Scotland and Australia.
