UPDATE: Sadly this walk has now become an 'in memory of' my Dad as he passed away peacefully on Thursday 15th September.
I am still taking part in my next 50km challenge and I’d like to use this challenge to raise money for Music24 who have been such a great support to my parents. I'm even more keen to say thank you to this wonderful charity as they were very thoughtfully visiting my Dad in the care home, right up until the day before he died to play music to him as a comfort/therapy.
Music24 is a local community-based music charity that builds strong communities through music therapy and they also provide ongoing support - not only to adults with learning difficulties, mental health conditions, dementia etc but also for their carers. When my Dad was alive and suffering from Alzheimer’s, my parents used to regularly attend these music sessions, where he came to life and enjoyed taking part/dancing around to the music. These sessions have also been great for my Mum, to meet other carers and get support and advice this way. The organisers who run these groups are amazing too, so positive and supportive.
On 24th September, I’ll be taking part in the 50km Chiltern Challenge and would love to raise some money for this charity to say thank you for the support they’ve given to my parents and help them continue to support other families too.
Any donations would be gratefully received and Gift Aid (if you qualify). I’ve also self-funded my entry again, so all donations will go directly to Music24.
Thank you and take care
Gina
