The Grandparents' Support Group, Durham, is affiliated through the DCP to the Grand Parents Association (national), whose aim is to work for the benefit of children. The Support Group serves grandparents who may have no contact, have sole care, or are simply concerned over the welfare of their grandchildren.

The Support Group is facilitated by people trained in appropriate listening skills. By offering mutual support, grandparents receive comfort and strength, helping to build up the family unit to the benefit of the community.

It is hoped that with greater financial resources, the Support Group (Durham) will become a regional focus for education, training, literature, telephone helpline and support.
