In response to requests from health visitors, social workers, school nurses and other professionals, we make grants of up to £300 to families with children aged from 0-18. The grants manager and a trustee from Hertfordshire Community Foundation ensure that grants are properly managed. For example, a mother and her 6 children were forced to flee an abusive relationship. They had to leave their home and all belongings. 5 boys had to share 2 beds. A grant for 2 sets of bunk beds helped greatly.
Why they need our serviceAlthough perceived as a wealthy county, some areas in Hertfordshire rank amongst the highest for all round deprivation in the UK with many children lacking the very basic needs of everyday life. This level of disadvantage affects a child's life chances, general health and self-esteem. A grant from HCF provides not only practical help but also much needed care and support from the community.
Plan and expected resultsSupporters hear about us through word of mouth, speaking opportunities, networking and now, hopefully internet interest. Children are the innocent victims of poverty and hardship - your donation will help them when they need it most. The measure of our success will be an increase in the number of children we can help in difficullt times.
