Children will acquire the skills to form positive attitudes, avoid risky behaviours and make healthy choices. They will learn about their bodies and how to look after it. Topics include healthy eating, effects/risks associated with drugs, alcohol and smoking. Children are taught friendship skills, how to deal with bullying and peer group pressure as well building self-esteem. We also offer relationship education programmes and bCyberwise to help children stay safe online.

Why they need our service

We visit over 20,000 children each year in over 100 schools in Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Swindon but would like to increase this number, particularly in central Berkshire. Schools struggle to afford the full cost of a Life Education visit, especially as contributions from parents are dropping due to family budgets being stretched. We are reluctant to charge schools the full cost of a visit so need help with funding for subsidies to enable schools to take part.

Plan and expected results

An increase in the number of children and schools taking part in Life Education programmes. The opportunity for more parents and carers to be engaged in the education we are providing to their children, as a result of the parents/carers sessions which are offered during each school visit.
