Our lovely Lord Mayor wanted to use this years appeal funds for something that would really benefit the Bradford District therefore the "Bradford Hospitals Children’s Charity" and the “Spread a Smile Appeal” were chosen :)
There is a new children’s ward being built in Bradford on the BRI site with state-of- the-art new facilities for acutely poorly children and young people from across the District. The NHS will meet the costs of the new building in terms of the basic essentials but the added extras that will make a hospital stay more bearable and comfortable will not be covered. This is where the Bradford Hospitals Children’s Charity comes in and half of the funds raised will go towards a variety of equipment from their wish list, which includes a sensory room, multi-use gym for those children with cystic fibrosis, innovative distraction toys and games as well as beds for parents who are able to stay with their children and help with their care.
The other half this appeal will go to the “Spread a Smile” appeal which will provide small grants for organisations and smaller groups across the Bradford District.
There are some fantastic things going on throughout the area organised by the community and voluntary sector and it can often be difficult for groups and organisations to find funding for their projects, events and activities. The Appeal would like to be able to offer these smaller pots of funding to enable these groups to fulfil their dreams and enhance their projects further without having to spend extra time raising money. The “Spread a Smile” Appeal will be beneficial to many groups across the Bradford District, rather than just supporting one or two particular charities.
The generous support of individuals like you makes it possible for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal to exist, giving these very worthy causes some much-needed extra help and making our community a better place to live.
