I discovered Keen London in 2018 when I was looking for a very last minute place in the Hackney Half Marathon. I got the last one due to a cancellation and vowed to volunteer with this charity.
Keen London puts on sports, games,outings and other fun activities for children with various disabilities, working from 3 centres in East, North and South London. during school term time and also organise visits to activity centres, museums, theatre and even a circus during school holidays. The charity trains volunteers as coaches, who work one-to-one mostly with the children, with safeguarding always a priority. I have been volunteering since September 2018. The children have a lot of fun, so do the coaches and the parents seem to enjoy the respite!
Funds are always needed to put on and improve the activities mentioned. I hope you will be kind enough to sponso me. Please also scatter around the route to cheer on the runners, especially those in the KEEN vests, some of them carrying a large parachute ( which we use for some of the games).
I've always been a keen runner, I grew up in Hackney and I belong to a large, extended but close-knit a family with a lot of children, many of them born in Hackney. The Hackney Half and Keen London are the perfect fit for me.
I'm expecting pain, hopefully, for Keen London gain. Go on, Please sponsor. You'll be glad you did!
