Hello,
This year, with your help, I am hoping to raise £500 for a charity that is very, very close to my heart: 'Make a Move'.
Just over two years ago, whilst pregnant with my second child, I began suffering from pre-natal depression. It was a very hard time for us as a family and I had times when I felt like I'd hit rock bottom. Fortunately, I had a wonderful GP who guided me through it and I managed to continue my pregnancy feeling moderately OK.
Unfortunately, after the birth of my beautiful daughter, the depression came back. I could not eat; I could not sleep; and my self-worth was minimal. I felt so distant and so low and that my children would be better off without me. I had reached a crisis point. During this time my health visitor referred me to 'Make a Move' and I attended their movement sessions aimed at mums with low mood. With this, and the wonderful work of my family, friends and GP, I managed to come out of the other side and found that actually I was worth something. That it IS ok to not be ok.
'Make a Move' brought me back to life, and now, in return, I wish to help them help more mums like me!
In the next 6 months I will be running:
10k - May 6th - Two Tunnels Challenge, Bath
Half Marathon - 10th June - Lacock
Half Marathon - 23rd September - Bristol
I am not a runner. This will be a challenge! Please help me to raise £500 and help another mum suffering with postnatal depression find her light again.
