Raising vital funds for West London Welcome !

Dear all Thank you for visiting my page! I'm fundraising for West London Welcome - the first Drop-In Centre for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in west London. I was meant to do a race but due to adverse weather it was cancelled, so instead I did 15 k training run in the snow and got rather too cold. Then was going to do Bordeaux half marathon but have caught a virus so cant do that either. When the said race is rearranged I’ll be running it for the cause! The Centre opened in January 2018 and already has an average of 40 visitors a day. It provides a warm safe space for people to gather, have a cup of tea and socialise, come in out of the cold, escape chaotic accommodation and isolation. It enables visitors to learn English and share ideas and enjoy hot nutritious food . It is a community meet-up where strangers can break loneliness and become friends. Your kind donations will help to pay for: - cost of hot lunches and pay Living Wage to the refugee chefs - buy IT equipment - pay the travel cost to asylum seekers who cannot work or receive benefits - teaching materials for English classes. The Centre caters primarily to vulnerable displaced individuals and communities who have settled in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham but also the wider London area. Why the community needs us? We work together to build a safe, positive experience of community where people can share their gifts with one another and strangers can become friends. Many of our Clients have no fixed homes, have suffered enormous trauma, have little or no help (financial or otherwise) and The Centre reduces isolation and intense hardship by providing a much needed sanctuary to socialise, fill out forms, enjoy books, board games, yoga, mindfulness, gardening, English lessons and a free hot lunch.
