Hi. I'm Richard. (Trustee of The Harbour Project in Swindon ... and now, ultra-runner!) For several years, I've been a supporter of The Harbour Project: a charity sharing friendship, advice and hope with asylum seekers and refugees in the town of Swindon. As a new Trustee, it's partly my role to make sure the charity's aims are being met by working with a team of staff, volunteers and fellow trustees. The charity's objectives are to: - provide relief for asylum seekers and refugees and their dependants who are in conditions of hardship or distress - preserve and protect their physical and mental health - provide facilities for education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving life conditions and community inclusion. As millions of displaced people look for somewhere on this planet to be safe from wars and human rights abuses, I'm running my first ultra-marathon to help The Harbour Project develop its incredible services. Please visit www.harbourproject.org.uk for more info. This will be my toughest journey yet: 100km along The Ridgeway on the 15th and 16th July. I'll sleep at the half-way point knowing that the most exhausting day of my life is to be followed by the most exhausting day of my life!! But it will be worth it. I hope to see all The Harbour Project's friends and supporters at the finish line in Avebury. Get in touch with me for more information at harbourcomms@gmail.com. If you can, please do support me by donating generously.
