This project provides a chance to create and consume healthy food. It offers the opportunity for young people to help 'Chef' in the kitchen by discussing, preparing, cooking and and serving meals. We sit down at the table as a group (this can be anything up to 25 of us!) and chat about our day together. The intention here is to provide and encourage a calm communal environment where young people can experience the benefits of eating healthy food at the table in a group setting.
Why they need our serviceOur Healthy Eating project encourages awareness of nutrition by providing healthy food carefully prepared by our own chef using cleverly adapted recipes.By educating children about health issues, we offer alternative choices and empower them to make changes that can impact their future wellbeing.
Plan and expected resultsA recent addition to our Healthy Eating project has been the introduction of 'GRUB QUIZ'. Just prior to mealtimes our young people have been engaging with topical themes in the form of question and answer, word search and discussion based activities to enhance their knowledge of healthy eating issues. These sessions have been welcomed by our various groups and we are now developing a'Budgeting Workshop' to equip our young people with skills to consider value for money in terms of food choices.
