On May 23 we took over responsibility of the old Saltburn Junior School on Marske Mill Lane, Saltburn, from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. This wonderful old school, built in the Neo-Georgian style in 1903, was abandoned in 2009 and pupils were relocated to the newly built Huntcliff School across the road. The building is in the early stages of refurbishment in order to make the first spaces available for use. We need your help to make this possible!
Why they need our serviceTHE SALTBURN SCHOOL PROJECT We are turning the old Saltburn Junior School into a community and arts centre for the people of the town and the surrounding area. The remit for the centre is three-fold - a space for sport, visual and performing art, as well as a place to meet and chat.
Plan and expected resultsOur first major fundraising effort will go toward the restoration of the school's original radiators, floorboards and doors, and towards the cost of painting each room. These initial restorations will enable us to use spaces within the building and to save the original historical features in the building.
