Holywood Resettlement Group and Friends have completed 3,739 miles- the distance from Holywood to Kabul as the crow flies and also the distance Afghan refugees travel to start a new life in a safety. Our target is to raise £1 per mile to help us reach the £9,000 target we are required to raise under the Home Office Community Sponsorship rules. Our application has been submitted to the Executive Office and we hope to be able to offer a new home and a new welcoming community in Holywood to a refugee family in the coming months. We hopefully have found a house and are now confident that it can be offered to a family fleeing unthinkable circumstances soon.
