Crunchie and Glenda are Hoofing it for HDANI!! 🏃‍♀️🐎

I've crazily entered this year's My Zen Run in September AND the London Marathon on the 3rd October!

The My Zen Run encourages mindfulness running and it is a fabulous event that was first organised by the Scottish Huntington's Association. I have set an individual target to run TWO marathons over the duration of September with one of my beloved miniature horses, Crunchie.

Then, in my wisdom, or madness and determination, we've also entered the London Marathon on the 3rd October!!!

Runners we are not! Plodders perhaps 😂. My horse needs to lose weight, I also need to lose my pandemic pounds but the main reason I have taken on this challenge is to raise awareness of Huntington's Disease and support our wonderful local charity.

The Huntington's Disease Association Northern Ireland (HDANI) is a small charity that supports people affected by Huntington's disease, including the family and carers. They also provide information & advice to health professionals and any organisations involved.

Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a rare, inherited and highly complex neuro-degenerative disorder, with a fluctuating progression, affecting both mind and body. It is caused by a faulty gene which progressively destroys the central area of the brain affecting all aspects of an individual’s life including physical, cognitive and behavioural processes. Life expectancy from onset of symptoms is approximately 15-20 years.

Small charities are really struggling in the current climate, can you help me help HDANI? Without this charity the many people in Northern Ireland affected by this horrible illness may not be able to get support when they most need it.

Anything is greatly appreciated, a penny or a pound means the world to Crunchie and me, and the families we are helping. THANK YOU!
