On 24th August I swam two miles in the open waters of Loch Lomond (in a wetsuit) and then the following weekend on 1st September I completed the Haddington triathlon (750m swim, 19km bicycle ride, 5km run). This was my first time in either type of event. I am very pleased to have got them out of the way and very touched by all the support I have had. I finished the swim in 54 minutes and 25 seconds and I came 21st out of 133 in the triathlon (5th overall in the swim section!) so was very pleased not to have humilated myself. I participated in aid of Home Start Edinburgh West and South West of which I am on the board of trustees. The charity's primary focus is to support vulnerable families with children under five. Home-Start does this in a variety of ways including training volunteers to provide face-to-face support as well as running local PEEP groups and home safety workshops. We want to ensure that every child has the support network it needs in order to grow up in a healthy environment and to become a valuable member of society. We would be very grateful for any donation, however small. Thank you in advance.
