If Walls Could Speak will record the oral histories of the artists who created the murals which so illuminate our urban ladnscape. It will involve volunteers and school children in learning about murals and restoring the dilapidated Windmill mural. We will film the murals to preserve them as they are now and document the public's view of them today.
Why they need our serviceThis project will document, preserve and record the histories of those artists and members of the community who created the outstanding, unique, and at risk murals of Brixton. If we do not make this documentary, the murals themselves will be lost and the history of their creators forgotten. This documentary will be screened and will be availble online for future generations to learn from and enjoy. Without it the unique process by which the artists and community collaborated will go unrecorded.
Plan and expected resultsIf Walls Could Speak will provide a invaluable educational resource and will record an otherwise lost piece of community history for future generations to enjoy. If Walls Could Speak will draw together a wide range of people in the creation of the documentary and therestoration of the Windmill mural.
