I’m running the Ikley Half Marathon on the 16th July to raise money for a great local charity called AWARE (Airedale and Wharfedale Autism Resource). As a family we have been members of the AWARE community since Thomas was diagnosed as autistic a few years ago.
AWARE is a parent-run charity supporting families with autistic children and young adults providing information and advice to families as well as running youth clubs, holiday activities and training sessions.
We feel so lucky to have this charity on our doorstep - the first stay and play session we attended helped us to feel like there was an instant community around us who ‘just get it’ and we found people who could offer support and advice from a place of experience and empathy.
