Community project in the South Ham area of Basingstoke to inspire young people to work together on a local project; learn how to grow food, acquire basic horticulture skills and the benefits of healthy eating.
Why they need our serviceThis part of the South Ham community is one of the most deprived in Basingstoke. The area falls within the 30% deprivation level on the Indices of Multiple Deprivation for England. Families on are on low incomes and generally skill levels are low. Sovereign Housing Association have developed this community growing site in the middle of South Ham for Inspero and local residents to promote services for local young people and families.
Plan and expected resultsYoung people in this area becoming involved in developing the community growing site. A team of young people who know how to sow seeds, pot on, nurture and harvest vegetables and fruit. Parental support and involvement. Two Inspero youth Ambassadors to promote the work in the community.
