HERA works with women survivors of trafficking, conflict, exploitation and other forms of violence. HERA works with young women vulnerable to trafficking and re-trafficking to pursue their aspirations and ambitions for a better life.
HERA works across 9 countries since 2015 to develop women’s entrepreneurship. Since creation, HERA has built strong long-term partnerships with trusted associations, academic teams, and companies such as Salesforce, Amex etc to help women achieve their mission – help women achieve financial freedom to prevent trafficking and re-trafficking.
HERA runs an Entrepreneurship course for women in partnership with Imperial College Business School and mentorship supported by business professionals. As one of the new mentors with HERA, it’s an honour to share the work HERA has been doing.
HERA also awards grants to women-led ventures in Eastern European countries enabling them to grow their business, become economically independent and hire more young women to multiply the effect.
When enforced lockdown was placed across the UK, HERA’s monthly workshops had to stop along with mentor and mentee face-to-face meetings. Lockdown has been difficult on many of the women HERA supports.
The team made calls to the women to understand their needs and how HERA could support. The majority of women rely on WiFi or having enough money to top-up the data on their mobile phones. With the inability to go to local cafes or community centres to access WiFi and the reduced availability of work access online resources, learning and speaking to their friends and family has been limited. More than even lockdown was a time where virtual community and connect is important. Now, each month the women on the HERA programme receive a package in the post. For instance, prior month package included a £10 data top-up voucher. HERA is a relatively small charity and your donation would support HERA with their ongoing initiatives. On behalf of HERA, thank you!
