Hi, my name is Iona and I have just been accepted on to a 10 week course at Edventure, Frome. So, I am doing a sponsored silence to raise money for Edventure and for the costs of the course. The course is looking at setting up an Ethical fashion exchange with a difference and also, gaining a level 3 qualification in leadership and management.
I have been in Frome since I was 11, and have never really known what I want to do. However, I have always been very aware of limiting waste and eating sustainably. I like to buy my clothes from charity shops to limit excessive costs and to limit the temptation to buy into a materialistic consumerist culture.
I am pleased to be doing a course which is looking at a solution to the problem of waste and helping to achieve a sustainable outcome to wearing nice clothes without damaging the planet or taking advantage of people.
In a way, trying this course, is just another step in my ideal of sustainable living; and of course, it is very exciting to be trying something new.
I grew up in Bath until I was 7 and then lived in the Outer Hebrides until I was 11, so have had quite a range of experiences of living in different situations, from city life to remote island life.
I am really looking forward to starting this course, and ask that you will sponsor me on the next stage of my life.
