Hello, my name is Issy Smee and I am 14 years old. When i was younger it took me a long time before i could walk. I was told i had low muscle tone & hypermobile joints (so i needed special boots for awhile to help me). One day when i was 22 months i finally took my first steps. Then when i was 10 years old, i was told i had autism. I'm now able to walk, I'm not that fast and i always like a plan for when i walk-i like to know where I'm going and when I'll be home.
I love flamingo chicks. I am one of the founder members & have loved the dance classes so much and have made lots of new friends. I have also had the opportunity to talk about children's disability rights- at 10 Downing Street, in the United Nations HQ, New York and with local MP's.
So, this year I am working towards my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and I wanted to volunteer with Flamingo Chicks. I am their youngest volunteer ever and I wanted to raise some money so they can help more and more children access and enjoy dance.
My goal is to walk 100km (62 miles) in the month of May for the May 100 challenge 2021. This will mean I will need to walk about 3km's every day. Follow my journey, see my photos and videos throughout May.
If you can please donate to my fundraising page I will be so happy and send you all a virtual hug. Thank you, Issy Smee. xxxxxxxx
