This will be my first competitive event longer than the 200 metres so I have thrown myself in at the deep-end and I am aiming for a very ambitious time of 2hrs 30 mins.
I am raising money for the Reasons Why Foundation, a brilliant NGO based in South London that offers behavioural change programmes to people who have been involved in crime, helping them to turn their lives around and avoid re-offending.
The RWF has a phenomenal track record, here are a few stats:
Over 44% of all offenders are re-convicted within 12 months of their release from prison. Only 5% people who have passed through the RWF programme have reoffended. If the RWF programme had the funding to be extended across all of England and Wales, it could reduce the annual number of committed offences by over 350,000.
This is a great cause that would benefit all of society and an area that is extremely underfunded so any donations will be greatly appreciated!!!
