I am running the Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday 29th May. This is a BIG challenge for me, more than twice as long as I have ever run before - which explains why I have left it so late to start fundraising as I had to be sure I could definitely do it. Now I'm sure I will get to the end, but it might take me a while.
I am lucky to be able to run for fun (?) and the challenge, and not to be running for my life. I would like to put my efforts to some good use by raising funds for The Welcoming, a small Edinburgh charity whose purpose is to welcome and support New Scots, many of whom have fled from the most horrendous circumstances. The Welcoming provide English classes, a chance to socialise, employment advice and weekly outings around Edinburgh to help people settle in their new home. They are preparing to support families arriving from Ukraine as they have done with people of 80 other nationalities.
Every donation makes a big difference to a small charity, so if you have the price of a cup of coffee spare this weekend please send it this way! And if not, please wish me well as I stagger my way to the finish line!
Very well done Jane! Diane xx
