I was keen cyclist till Jun'08 when I was involved in a road accident. The injuries I sustained left some physical and some mental scars. I'm not (now) overly bothered by the physical ones but the mental ones got in the way of me doing things for a long time. A few years later I became a very proud dad of my 2 sons. They have changed my life (for the better) from the dark days after my accident. So I'm getting back on the bike for the 1st time in 8 years and joining the 100K Ferry Good Bike Ride in September to raise funds for The Big Red Bus Club.
The Big Red Bus Club is a little known kids club for under 5's near my home. It's a great place for the toddlers (and their mums) to meet each other and form social bonds from a very early stage which is very beneficial for them when they start going to nursery and reception as the social skills interconnect seamlessly.
The charitable club has been in existence for a number of years and run by volunteers who organise day to day running of club and also events regularly to provide a social platform to the kids and parents to meet and share their skills, experiences and knowledge.
Both my kids have benefitted tremendously from the club's existence so I though it was only fair to give something back to little one's community.
And I found the way to do this....by signing up to 100K bike ride in September to raise much needed funds for the kids club.
