Isaac was a remarkable and inspiring boy of just 12, in 2014 he was taken by the sea in North Wales. The impact on his home community in Yorkshire and Anglesey, North Wales has been devastating, it has however sparked positive action and fundraising through The Isaac Nash Trust for both the RNLI and a local skatepark.
As a parent I cannot conceive of anything more devastating than losing a child, under whatever circumstances. Losing that child in supposedly benign circumstances is particularly heart wrenching. That’s what happened to the parents of Isaac Nash, an 12 year old boy from a village not far from where I live, just outside of Huddersfield.
Isaac and his family were on holiday in Anglesey last August when tragedy struck. A freak wave washed Isaac and his younger brother Xander out to sea, and despite the best efforts of Isaac’s father and grandfather and after an extensive search by the Coastguard and the RNLI Isaac has not been found. Isaac’s family have been ripped in two however we are hoping that something positive can come from this horrendous situation. Not long after the search was abandoned Isaac’s grandfather founded The Isaac Nash Trust (TINT) to raise money to build a skatepark in Isaacs memory, as well as help support the RNLI. The target was to raise £100,000. Have a look here for more details http://www.theisaacnashtrust.co.uk/ We want to smash the target. Various events will be taking place throughout the year as well as a number of ridiculous challenges.
In May I will be hoisting my considerable bulk onto a bicycle and riding the 150 miles from Isaac’s home village Kirkburton and across the Pennines, North West, North Wales (skirting Snowdonia) and on to Anglesey to Aberffraw, where Isaac was lost. And I’m doing this to raise money. So I know you see a lot of these things over the year but I would really ask you to consider making a donation, no amount is too small, to help keep Isaac’s memory alive.
Thank you
