I have never run a half marathon before. I have never run a 10km - or even a 5km event before. 'Running' the 800m for Sports Day in Year 8 remains a core memory (derogatory) of my time in education.
In doing the Half Marathon I am really pushing myself into a situation that is unfamiliar, and will be physically and mentally exhausting.
I want to do my bit to support transgender and non-binary people, who are experiencing a sustained negative shift in public perception.
My discomfort will be for one day - compared to the 3-8 years that people can wait for a first appointment for gender-affirming care.
I'd therefore be very grateful if you could take the time to donate to Gendered Intelligence and support the work that they do.

The Brighton Half Marathon will be in its 36th year in 2026. Over the past three decades the race has grown in numbers and it is now one of the largest running events in the south east and a significant fundraising event for many worthy charities and causes.
