On 30th April I’ll be running the Hackney Half Marathon to raise money for Gendered Intelligence. It’s a great cause that has got me up from my favourite activities (laying down and eating creme eggs) and out to run. I’m doing it to fundraise for a residential summer camp for young trans people aged 11-24. Since 2010, these trips allow young trans people to spend time together and join in activities in a unique space that is inclusive and non-judgemental. The camps are really popular and last year 140 people applied for 70 spots. It costs £345 to send one young person camping and I’m asking for your help to reach this target. The longest I’ve ever run is 14k and I ugly cried most of the way so please make my tears count by supporting this great cause. Gendered Intelligence (GI) is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company which specialises in supporting young trans people aged 8-25. GI works to increase understandings of gender diversity and improve the life experiences of trans people. As well as summer camps, they run support activities, educational workshops, and campaigns to raise awareness of trans people’s needs across the UK.
