Hi Guys,
For my 50th this year (I know scary) I am going to mark it by jumping out of a plane for a charity skydive on the 16th July.So I don't want the lavish presents you were going to buy me, just donate a bit to my charity page. I'm raising money for an excellent cause 'Al's pals'. I'm paying for the skydive so all proceeds you donate go to charity.
WHO ARE AL’S PALS?
Al’s Pals is a service offered to all cancer patients in Milton Keynes. Al’s Pals is named after Alan Dumbell, who received cancer treatment at Milton Keynes University Hospital.
Alan noticed that throughout his treatment, although he was surrounded by his loving family, he still felt very lonely and lost at times, and he often discussed having a ‘buddy’ to support and help him where he felt things were missing. It is his legacy to have a cancer buddy scheme like this and with the passion of his daughter and the support of MKUH, Al’s Pals was born and continues to grow.
Volunteers understand the needs of someone that has cancer and how this can affect their own lives as well as their families. They can offer support, companionship, empathy and a listening ear to any cancer patient from the start of their cancer journey through to the end.
