So, I had the bright idea to run 13.1 miles for charity, it seemed like a good idea at the time! If I'm going to do this, I wanted to do it for a charity close to my heart, so I'm running for Cruse Bereavement Care Morgannwg.
I have gone through multiple bereavements and being a typical guy, I never asked for help and thought I could cope myself. In hindsight, it would have helped to have had someone to talk to about how I'd felt about my losses.
I am also a Student Counsellor with Cruse Morgannwg and I have learned a lot about how to be there for people in the pain of a bereavement. To volunteer with such a supportive and encouraging group of people has been a pleasure, so I'm looking forward to giving something back.
I've accepted that I may need new legs after the race and that a steady pint will have to happen to numb the pain! Though in all seriousness, your generosity will make a difference to people going through the trauma of bereavement. Thank you.
