Hello Everyone,
Welcome to my fund raising page and thank you for visiting, On Sunday 2nd August I will be taking part in the Prudential Ride London - Surrey 100 to support and raise money for The Redway School which is a special school in Milton Keynes. I will be racing against Bradley Wiggins, however he will be racing in the elite mens race and I won’t be.
About the ride: Well the ride is a 100 mile bike ride which starts off in London, heads out of London and into Surrey and around the Surrey hills, finishing back in London on The Mall. This isn’t the sort of distance I’m used to cycling, I only took cycling and swimming up a couple of years ago after breaking my ankle which prevented me from running for a while. I’ve done a bit of training for the event and in addition to this am relying on my own philosophy that everything always works out for the best in the end.
About the cause: Well I’m riding in support of The Redway School which is an ‘extra special’ special school within Milton Keynes for children with profound or complex learning difficulties and just so happens to be the school that my beautiful daughter Emily, or Miss E as she is sometimes known, goes to. The Redway really and truly is an ‘extra special’ school and is such an important part of Emily’s and all of the other children and young people’s lives who go there. But it extends much further than that and is a really important part of our lives, all of the other parents and carers lives and also the lives of all of the fantastic teachers, STA’s and numerous other members of staff who all work there and help to make all of the magic happen.
So why the need for support and fund raising I hear you all cry, well there are always things that the school needs which are not things that they can easily get to enable the children and young people to have some of the same experiences in life that so many of us take for granted.
Big love from James, Sheryl, Emily, Matthew and Baby Thomas xxXxx
