On 9th November I will, once more, be swapping my bed for a night, sleeping under the canopies of the biomes at the Eden Project, raising awareness of, and funds for, homelessness in Cornwall.
Homelessness is on the rise. Last year, Cornwall recorded 99 rough sleepers on one night in November. This put Cornwall as the 3rd highest area in the UK for rough sleepers, behind only Westminster and Brighton & Hove.
It is a situation that could affect any one of us. Relationship breakdowns and job losses are common reasons why people become homeless.
I am supporting St Petroc’s Society, a charity for whom I’m proud to say I’ve worked for over four years. St Petroc’s provides accommodation, support, help and advice to the single homeless all over the county for whom no other provision is available.
Please help me to help those who spend every night sleeping in the cold and rain and let’s end street homelessness in Cornwall.
Thank you.
