I'm hoping 2015 will be my year to get fit, so I've decided to run the Olney Pancake Race to get myself started! I have entered this race twice before so maybe this will be 3rd time lucky ........not to make a fool of myself ha ha ha! For those who don't know Olney, the Pancake race has taken place every Shrove Tuesday since 1445, for ladies of the town to race the 415 yard route whilst flipping their pancake. It is always a great and fun day for our town! I am pleased that I also have the opportunity to raise some funds for a worthy cause. I have decided to pick a charity that is fairly local and will benefit families and children. In my work as a children's nurse I come across many families who would benefit from this charity . My chosen charity is FACEs which stands for Family and Children's Early-help Services. It is based in Bedford. Families under stress receive practical and emotional support within their home by trained volunteers who work alongside Practioners delivering a unique menu of tailored services. The well-being of the family is promoted to enable each one to manage their affairs with increased confidence and independence. Please have a look at the website for more details. ANY DONATIONS WILL BE VERY GRATEFULLY RECEIVED (no matter how small)! Thank you in advance!
