I've set myself a goal this year, my 40th year, to run (walk..trot!) this years Bath Half Marathon on 2nd March - just 8 weeks time. I've started training so am serious about completing it in a reasonable time and in one piece! Thinking about raising some money for charity led me to a very worthy cause for my local First Steps Nursery in Twerton, where I live.
They established themselves in Twerton 18 years ago and are now one of Bath's largest voluntary organisations. Their overall aim is to provide integrated care, education & family support for young children & their families living in Bath.
My daughter attended First Steps from the age of 9 months until she started school in September. As parents, we had been thrilled with the exceptional progress in her learning & development. She had wonderful relationships with her key workers and staff who provided a safe, calm and vibrant environment.
'Thank you' from us doesn't seem enough, so I would like to raise money for them - they have just had their funding cut by our local authority - so need support from their local community.
The amount I raise will be DOUBLED by my employer - an even greater incentive for me to cross the finishing line and for you to kindly donate.
