I will be doing a 55 Mile cycle from London to Brighton and I am hoping to raise as much money as possible for Men's Minds Matters. I originally was just planning to ride for the challenge, but the closer I've got to the event, the more I've thought I can use this experience to help a cause which is important to me and which still needs a lot more focus being put on it. Men's Minds Matter is a mental health and suicide prevent organisation focussed mainly on men's mental health. They have been raising awareness of suicide and male suicide for over a decade. More recently they shifted our focus on to developing and delivering specialist psychological suicide interventions to more people. They aim to do this digitally via our website and social media; though print media; to communities via workshops and individually through face to face interventions.Men are largely forgotten about when it comes to receiving care and support and there is a growing need to support guys with the difficulties they face. We do this by being sensitive to the male gender and all its variations. Even though they focus on men our interventions are relevant to all people regardless of gender. This organisation is also important to me as it is based in Peckham, where I grew up, and I myself have seen the struggle young boys and men have had growing up and surviving in the area. As the cycle is 55miles, I've set a target of £550, equating to £10 per mile. I hope that with all your generosity, I will be able to hit this target (and even exceed it!) Of course, any donation large or small would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance .
