I am aiming to raise £500 through gaining sponsorship for my first Half Marathon so that the fantastic not-for-profit organisation Brave Bold Drama can run another Arts Award course with primary school children in Withywood in South Bristol. As a student living around Clifton, I am aware of my privileged experience of the city when for many children just a 15 minute drive away, multiple disadvantage is prevalent.
Arts Award courses are inspiring, accessible, empowering and raise children's esteem by supporting their creativity and encouraging exploration. For children so unfairly left out of expensive extra-curricular opportunities, a day of creative activity, and the opportunity to gain a qualification is invaluable.
I am so excited for the race on September 19th, but more importantly I am so excited to see some really happy kids having a great day during the October half term a month later! Let's make that happen.
