About

I have entered the Joburg2C http://joberg2c.co.za/ cycling event this year in April. I have not been cycling for very long so this is going to be quite a challenge. The training has been long and hard, especially through our cold winter. Waking really early to cycle a couple of hours before work in the dark, and cycling most days to work and back, a 40km round trip, as part of my training. I would love to raise funds for a local charity who does amazing things for those in quite desperate situations in Reading, my town. CCAM has been running for 25 years and has helped thousands of families with basic furniture. Last year they helped over 5000 people / families either by supplying furniture, giving food parcels, bedding or kitchen packs, signposting to other charities or listening and caring. Thank you Keith Daily Upates: Day one done. Did not feel like 114k as it was fast and dry. My race partner Warren had a massive head over heels on his bike and very lucky not to have broken anything, just winded and very stiff now. Day two done no accidents today. Warren was much stronger today and we stuck together- well until the end. Day three done 122 km very tired and it was very tough. The heat seems to have got to us felt a bit knackered at the end. Day 4 done ? 88k ride plus 7 k to the start. I was fine until 60k which was water point 2 and wheels fell off. Temp 32 degrees And I started feeling dizzy and nauseous. Day five looms it's 126 km and lots of hills . Medical doctor says I've got high blood pressure and possibly a virus. Day 6 Another hard day to look forward to. 98k big hills and I'm broken this morning very stiff legs Day 7 done - not to bad today 1500 meters less to climb than yesterday. Day 6 was very tough just wanted the hills to be over? So the racing part of the trip is over. Tomorrow is a neutral non time day. I ended up 21st in age cat and 245th over whole event.
