This hugely popular activity has been running for four years - and takes place four times a year in the winter months for its members. We choose films from different countries - including India, Mexico, Greece and France - and prepare exciting food to reflect that country's culture and cuisine. We squeeze as many as we safely can into our little hall for a sit-down meal. Then we all help to clear away and transform the hall into a cinema.
Why they need our serviceSadly, we have to turn people away as there is not enough room for everyone who would like to come and, with no disabled access, some people just can't join in. The food has to be cooked in members' houses and brought to the hall as the cooking facilities are inadequate.
Plan and expected resultsThrough selling tickets for the meal, we have raised over £1,000 towards the hall fund. With an improved and bigger hall, we could accommodate more villagers including the more elderly and disabled, some of whom live alone and are lonely. With a bigger and better equipped kitchen, we will be able to prepare and serve food in the hall for this and other clubs, including lunch clubs for the over 60s.
