In January 2021 Covid-19 infection rates have soared and a new variant of the coronavirus are causing more hospitalisations and sadly many more deaths. A third national lockdown is in place and in Calderdale this has meant disruption to normal schooling and a need for children and young people to learn remotely.
Schools have a critical role to play in supporting disadvantaged children and young people and their families but schools don't have the financial resources or a surplus of laptops and associated equipment to pass onto disadvantaged families.
The Community Foundation for Calderdale and Calderdale Council have teamed up to launch the Laptops for Learning Appeal to purchase 100s of laptops and supporting equipment and to support schools in preparing the laptops for distribution across Calderdale.
Prior to setting up this Localgiving Project Page the Community Foundation and the Council mobilised £32,000 sourced from Foundation fundholders, general donations and matched funding sourced by the Council.
We need your help to raise at least £100,000 to ensure all Calderdale children and young people can enjoy the same remote learning experience as others.
Please will you consider supporting this important cause.
