Hi everybody,
My friend Joni works for a charity called Southside Young Leaders' Academy (SYLA). They help young boys of African and Afro-Caribbean Heritage to pursue positive life paths.
SYLA is organising a fundraising bike ride on the 1st of November (more info: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/syla-fundraising-bike-ride-40-miles-to-fight-illiteracy-tickets-18514495354) to raise money for the Big Literacy Project which aims to help improve reading skills and help kids reach their full potential.
As Joni is somewhat greatly responsible for me taking up cycling this summer and as a way to thank her for her motivation and support I am returning the favour by making this my first big bike challenge! And what a better way to do it than by raising money for a great cause at the same time.
If you could spare a couple of pounds so that I don't just look like a fool on a bike, but a fool on a bike that managed to raise a bit of cash to a great cause, that would be really fantastic and I would really appreciate it (as am sure SYLA will too).
I have exactly 1 month to raise 150 pounds and make sure I can cycle 40 miles in one go, so let's do this people!
Thanks for stopping by and for supporting me, my bike (a.k.a Shoshanna) , my friend Joni, and all the rest of the great people that make SYLA happen!
Obrigada, obrigada ;)
