Myself and a group of parents and carers, are taking part in this years Leeds 10k.
The group is run by parents to support families caring for an autistic child. . At ZigZag Leeds the vision is to provide a range of support measures that take into account, the needs of the whole family,. Autism affects the whole family and has a massive impact on family life. ZigZag Leeds want to provide a service that meets the needs of EVERY single family member. As a group we will continue to grow and expand, and to further develop our services in an inclusive environment.
Our group motto is "YOU ARE NEVER ALONE"
We run our groups in North Leeds, but our group is open to any family in the Leeds metropolitan district. Since our group has been up and running we have reached out and supported many children and their families. Our voluntary group has made a massive impact on these families, they have come to realise they are not alone, and always know they can speak to us about any issues they are having. The confidence of these parents/carers has improved due to the knowledge we share and assistance we give,
We set up family fun sessions ten years ago and they are a fantastic success, The group has now developed to also offer twice weekly autism friendly trampoline sessions and so much more. All the family know they can attend without being judged about their child's behaviour and be comfortable in the knowledge that we are all there with the same issues and fights in life. Strong friendships have grown between members and volunteers and excellent support circles have been established. The children have been able to build on their difficulties in a safe environment. The support group and networks we offer are in high demand. Please support us ❤
