On September 9, 2019, I will be taking on one of the UK's most famous challenges by cycling the 960 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats, "LeJog", the idea for which resulted from a client and now a good friend's battle with lung cancer. Back in November 2017, Paul Cook was diagnosed with mesothelioma and he was given 12 months to live. This was shattering news to Paul, his wife, and son, however, following surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy (and now with 1.5 lungs), he is currently in remission. Shortly after Paul was out of the hospital and struggling to walk even 10 metres, he committed to fulfilling a lifelong ambition of the Land's End to John O'Groats cycle! As there is currently no cure and very little awareness of mesothelioma Paul & Jill, his wife, established a charity, Erase Meso, to raise funds for scientific research into finding a cure. Not once on this journey have I heard Paul ask "why me?". Paul's positivity is infectious and through his fight with Meso, he met Nigel another incredibly courageous man based in Scotland suffering from the same terminal disease. Both Paul and Nigel intend to complete the ride which I intend to complete with them. As a warm up many of the group complete the London Revolution in May (photo). In a recent Sky News interview Paul & Jill talk more about their experience, learning to breathe again, and their hope for the future and their charity. Please sponsor me to support this fantastic cause.
