
Let's Get Walking is a series of progressive health walks in the community. Our walks are run every Friday for one hour, every other Wednesday for 2 hours and one Sunday a month for 3 hours. This ensures that all levels of walkers can find a walk that is suitable for them. Free transport is provided for the Acorn Amblers walk on a Sunday to ensure the walks are accessible by all.
Why they need our serviceWalking is the easiest and most accessible form of physical activity and has clear positive effects on cardio vascular disease. Walking can also help improve mood and self esteem and being a member of a walking programme means you can meet new people and widen your social circle.
Plan and expected resultsThrough this project we aim to provide the opportunity all members to improve their general sense of well-being. This includes social and health aspects. We would also like to recruit 5 more volunteers to our team to aid the delivery of the programme in the future.
