We have signed up to fight at charity boxing evening to support 'The Riff Raff Society' (www.theriffraffsociety.org) who give direct to local good causes in Manchester. Ticket sales for the night are going to help a local mum battling Motor Neurone Disease.
All the Virgin Trains lads that are involved really wanted to also do something in support of our work colleague Darren McLean as he is off work at the moment undergoing treatment for Blood Cancer. So we came up with the idea of sponsoring the only bout on the card between two Railway Fighters.
We see this as a way of railway folk channeling some of their love and best wishes for Darren in a positive way so his family can use the funds to help them get anything they need while Darren is under treatment.
Darren was reluctant to accept this gesture as he was overwhelmed by the generosity he was shown at Christmas by his railway colleagues but we insist.
