What a fantastic day!! We all met at Norwood Park Sunday 28th November at 8.30 am - we had coffee and croissants as the team gathered - we had a total of 9 cyclists starting with us - 2 film crew..two support vehicles.. 8 adults and children in the support team.. Why they need our servicehad a much needed lunch ready for us - at this point one of our team broke off (had been ill through the week so amazing he joined us a the beginning) and my son Djuaan's pedal came off so he was out - we were down to 7 - belly's full and feeling positive about being half way and surprised at how good the weather was on we went - our team leader warned us about the dizzy heights of Ditchling Beacon but we were undeterred, enjoying the views and getting to know our fellow cyclists - read below
Plan and expected resultsat 3pm we realised our plan to get to destination before dark was out the window and we decided that we had enough lights between us to keep on going - still no rain and as we hot the bottom of Ditchling Beacon (a steep winding incline about a mile that takes you to the top of the south downs) we stopped to drink and eat chocolate!! Our team leader a fairly experienced cyclists announced that the Ditchling Beacon climb is one of the hardest he's done!! next installment and photos tomorrow.......
