Update: Tuesday, 14th July We did it! Twice around the island. Amazing performances, double dipping, distances from 400m to 25,300m! Huge congratulations and thanks to everyone involved.
In lockdown LTC cycled and ran. From Lands End to John O'Groats. Virtually. Twice over. But we're a triathlon club so now... We swim. This time a mere virtual 90km around the Isle of Wight. Why? To raise even more lovely money for our local food bank who are doing such an amazing job in these difficult times. All you need to do to take part is record a swim and make a donation to this page (£5 suggested). When? Saturday and Sunday 11th and 12th July as long as the forecast remains favourable! The easiest way to log those kms is to share them on the club facebook page. Not on facebook? Then just tell us your distance with your donation or email Moz with the info. Safety, as always, is our main priority both in the water and out so don't forget to stick to government guidelines as well as taking care in the water. If you're new to open water swimming please read these guidelines from Sh2out. Let's go! How far can we get...?
British Triathlon Swimming Guidance for England: Open water swimming is permitted, and venues are beginning to open. You may swim with up to six other people from different households if social distancing is maintained. Where it is possible to keep 2 metres apart you should. Where it is not, you should keep a social distance of ‘one metre plus’, meaning you should remain one metre apart, while taking mitigations to reduce the risk of transmission.
