I'm running the Hackney 5K run in May to raise money for Gendered Intelligence. We're fundraising for the summer camps in July and August this year. And yes, I'm trying very hard to not break any arms or legs this time, I promise!
WHO IS GENDERED INTELLIGENCE?
Gendered Intelligence works with the trans community and all those who impact on trans lives and specialises in supporting young trans people 8-25. Our vision is of a world where people are no longer constrained by narrow perceptions and expectations of gender, and where diverse gender expressions are visible and valued.
MONEY WHAT FOR?
Every year, Gendered Intelligence runs Summer camps for young trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming and gender questioning people aged 11-25. This year is GI's 10th birthday and we’re celebrating by making camp supersized!
Super-Camp will involve taking 180 young people aged 18-25 camping for five days in August. Alongside Super-Camp we’ll be running an Under-18-Camp for 35 young people, going on a trip for four days in July 2018.
I'll be working as a youth worker at the U18-Camp and am very much looking forward to it! These camps are super important as they give young trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming and gender questioning people some space for themselves outside of school, for fun and outdoor adventures, to express themselves freely and be encouraged in being who they are.
So, if you have some money to give and want to support young trans people, donate it here! As a reward, you can come see me sweat in Hackney, London the 19th of May. I'll run as fast as I can!
