I will be running the Hackney Half Marathon 2020 for KEEN London.
KEEN London is a charity which provides one-to-one support at free sports and activity sessions for children with additional needs or disabilities. At KEEN London, each athlete is paired with a trained volunteer coach for individual support. This means they benefit from one-to-one attention and care. It also means their parents can leave their children in a secure and safe environment.
From volunteering as a coach I have discovered first hand how friendly, welcoming and supportive KEEN sessions are - and how much they can mean for a child with additional needs or disabilities.
Over 100 families across London are members of the KEEN family and they provide over 6,000 hours of supported care to children with disabilities every year. The sessions are free, so they are accessible for all families - but this means that lots of fundraising is required to keep things running.
